A Food Grade Agar ~ primarily used a substitute for animal based gelatin. Gracilaria is perfectly edible, and is used as a thickening agent for icings on cakes, donuts, in candies, vegetarian marshmallows, and other foods. Gracilaria is a standardized blend of our food grade agar~agar powder extracted from marine algae of the genus Rhodophyceae~Gracilaria type.
Gracilaria is soluble in boiling water, Kosher Certified, and classified as GRAS by the FDA.
